CIDEFES Researchers Contribute to Penn State Summer School Program at Lusófona University

2025-06-01

This June, students from The Pennsylvania State University will visit Lusófona University as part of an international academic program designed to promote knowledge exchange and cross-cultural learning experiences.

Two researchers from CIDEFES will contribute to the program through specialised sessions addressing key topics in physical activity and exercise psychology.

On June 9, Bruno Rodrigues will lead a session focused on physical activity concepts and measurement. The session will explore the evolution of physical activity guidelines over time, present the current recommendations, and discuss different approaches to measuring physical activity, with particular emphasis on self-report questionnaires and their applications in research and practice.

On June 16, Diogo Teixeira will deliver a session entitled Exercise and Emotions. Drawing on the AFFEXX framework, the session will examine how individuals experience and relate to physical activity from an emotional perspective. Students will be encouraged to reflect on their own profiles and discuss how affective responses can shape physical activity behaviours. To facilitate this interactive component, participants will be invited to complete the AFFEXX assessment prior to the session.

These sessions will provide students with the opportunity to engage with contemporary topics in physical activity and behavioural science while learning from researchers actively involved in advancing knowledge in these fields.

Initiatives such as these strengthen international collaboration and contribute to the dissemination of scientific knowledge across institutions, reinforcing CIDEFES' commitment to education, research, and global engagement.
