Job Offer: Research Fellowship for Bachelor’s degree holder
A call for tenders is open at Universidade Lusófona - CIDEFES for one bachelor’s degree Scholarship within the scope of the project SUNRISE PORTUGAL (international study website https://sunrise-study.com): Estudo Português dos Comportamentos de Movimento - 24 horas na Primeira Infância, (COMPETE2030-FEDER-00744300), financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES, under the following conditions:
Scientific Area: Sport Science
Admission Requirements: Bachelor (Licenciatura) degree in the areas of Sport Science, Physical Education or Exercise and Health.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience conducting physical and motor assessments in a school setting; experience using accelerometers, experience in data collection, organization, and processing.
As set forth in the FCT Research Scholarship Regulation No. 950/2019 of 16 December, namely in Articles 3 (paragraph b) and 6 (paragraph 2), candidates for ‘BIs’ (Research Grants) must, as a rule, be enrolled in a study cycle leading to the award of an academic degree or in courses that do not confer an academic degree as a condition for the grant award. Courses that do not confer an academic degree correspond to those provided for in subparagraph (e) of paragraph 3 of Article 4 of Decree-Law No. 74/2006 of 24 March (updated in Decree-Law No. 65/2018 of 16 August), and must be offered by a higher education institution in association with at least one R&D unit. These courses must include a study plan developed in one or more research areas of the R&D unit.
Work Plan
This is a full-time scholarship. The recipient of the scholarship will collaborate with the project team on the following tasks:
- Assist with participant recruitment;
- Distribution, monitoring, and collection of questionnaires;
- Assess physical and motor assessments, and physical activity;
- Accelerometry data collection;
- Management and organization of the database and data analysis.
Applicable Legislation and Regulations
The scholarship is governed by the Scientific Research Fellow Statute (Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação Científica – EBIC), approved by Law No. 40/2004 of August 18, as amended by Decree-Law No. 202/2012 of August 27, Decree-Law No. 233/2012 of October 29, Law No. 12/2013 of January 29, Decree-Law No. 89/2013 of July 9, and Decree-Law No. 123/2019 of August 28, as well as by the regulations set forth in the Research Grant Regulation of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT, I.P.), as formalized by Notice (extract) No. 412/2026/2.
The granting of the Research Scholarship will be carried out upon the signing of a contract between the University Lusófona and the scholarship holder.
Place of Work and Scientific Supervision
The work will be developed at CIDEFES, Universidade Lusófona, Campus de Lisboa, under the scientific guidance of the Professors Ana Paulo and António Palmeira.
Duration of the Scholarship
The scholarship will have a duration of 12 months, starting on June of 2026.
Monthly Maintenance Allowance
The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €1 090,98 according to the table of scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal (Valores do subsídio mensal de manutenção aplicáveis a bolsas abrangidas pelo Regulamento N.º 234/2012.), with payments being made monthly, by check or bank transfer.
Selection Methods
The selection methods to be used are as follows:
- Curriculum evaluation (50%);
- Interview (50%).
Application Deadline and Submission
- This call is open from May 15 to May 22 of 2026.
- The interviews will be conducted until June 05, and the selection results will be published by June 8 of 2026.
- Applications must be formalized, obligatorily, by sending an application letter with the following documents: Curriculum Vitae, certificate of qualifications, proof of enrolment in a study cycle or course not leading to an academic degree, and other relevant supporting documents.
- For application purposes, documents may be replaced by a signed declaration of honor. However, failure to provide official proof during the contracting phase will result in the exclusion of the candidate.

Recognition of Academic Degrees
- Degrees obtained abroad must be recognized by a Portuguese institution, in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018 of August 16 and Ordinance No. 33/2019 of January 25.
- The presentation of the recognition certificate is mandatory for contract signing.

Notification of Results
The final results of the evaluation will be made public on the CIDEFES website (cidefes.ulusofona.pt) and all candidates will be notified of the final classification by email.
After communicating the provisional list of the results of the evaluation, candidates have a period of 10 working days to express their opinion in a preliminary hearing of interested parties.
Based on the final ranking list, a reserve selection list will be drawn up, to be used for the possible recruitment of new scholarship holders within the scope of this project, up to the duration of the scholarship, which may be used in the eventuality of the first ranked candidate withdrawing, failing to present the mandatory documentation, or in the event of the scholarship holder cancelling their scholarship early.
In the eventuality that none of the candidates demonstrates the profile required to carry out the work plan, the jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship.
