Diversos países desenvolveram diretrizes próprias para atividade física e comportamento sedentário, com base em evidências científicas e nas recomendações globais da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS). No entanto, as Diretrizes Canadenses de Movimento nas 24 Horas (Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines - An Integration of Physical Activity, Sedentary Behaviour, and Sleep), não se concentraram em apenas em um único comportamento de movimento (AF), mas sim em como todos eles se integram.
