G. Summary

CPR-Sports is a collaborative partnership dedicated to advancing education and preparedness in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within the sports community, empowering athletes, coaches, and sports clubs staff with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies on- and off-field.

The project’s specific objectives are to develop a Train the Trainer’s training program on “how to teach” BLS-CPR for the target group; to implement evaluation and certificate of the program and raise awareness of European sports organisations and stakeholders regarding BLS/CPR education and integration in sports clubs curricula.

Considering the European Parliament's 2012 declaration (aimed at supporting Member States in adopting and implementing national strategies for equal access to high-quality CPR) and recent European initiatives advocating for witness intervention and urging EU countries to develop first aid training policies and install Automatic External Defibrillators in sports and education settings (e.g. “Kids save lives - Training school children in CPR worldwide” and “Get trained: save lives initiatives), we aim to implement the Train the Trainer's training program in 110 participants (who will become certified trainers) and cascade their knowledge to 440 additional participants, fostering a community of trained bystanders. We will raise awareness among stakeholders and the community through Multiplier Sports Events, an Info-pack for policymakers, and a CPR-Sports Online Platform for continuous learning and mapping of the Safer CPR organisations.
